Community Involvement
We believe here at Colonial Hills that we have the responsibility to make a difference in our community. We take this commitment very seriously and strive to be involved in a variety of ways. Every Thanksgiving Day we feed hundreds of local families - - those waiting or staying with loved ones in Baptist DesSoto Hospital, firemen and policemen working during the holidays and families who are in need of a hot meal. Along with our Sunday outdoor services at Snowden Grove for families playing in local baseball tournaments, we also assist the city during the numerous World Series events at Snowden Grove.
In 2004, we held our first Feed The Needy Thanksgiving meal drive. We were able to provide 400 meals that were prepared and distributed by CHC members. We continue this very important outreach ministry each year. Our entire church body participates in this fun event that meets the needs of those around us. We have people cooking the food, cutting pies and cakes, making sure each meal has utensils and napkins, assembling food boxes for families, making copies of delivery maps and even those who are delivering the meals and the food boxes to the homes and businesses. This past year, 2006, we fed 800+ people in the DeSoto County area. Not only are the lives of those who receive the food and meals affected, but also those lives of our own members are forever impacted by this life-changing opportunity for servant evangelism!
We also have outreach teams who hold weekly services in the Desoto County jail for both men and women inmates. These teams work very hard during the year to meet the physical and practical needs of these inmates and their families - including taking care of their children at Christmas.
It is our desire at Colonial Hills to impact Desoto County in a positive way and to make our home a better place for all who live here.
